Layout Construction Progress

July 2008

Work on the layout stopped in early July 2008 as I prepared for two conventions: the Santa Fe Railway Historical and Modeling Society convention in Riverside, CA and the NMRA National Convention in Anaheim, CA. The layout was open on tours for the Santa Fe convention on Sunday July 13, 2008, for two NMRA convention bus tours on Tuesday and Thursday, July 15 and 17, and for the NMRA LDSIG on Wednesday, July 16. A total of almost 200 people visited the layout over the five day period.

The theme of the Santa Fe convention was the southern California citrus industry so I entered the photo below of the National Orange Sunkist packing house in the color model photo category. It won third place.

I entered a second photo in the color model photo category at the NMRA convention. Since the national convention was also this year's Pacific Southwest Region (PSR) convention the photo (shown below) was automatically entered in two contests. It won first place in the PSR photo contest.

A third photo, taken at the same time as the photo above, was not entered in a contest but is shown below.

I purchased some details at the National Train Show that will be added to the layout in the near future.
